Desserts 'n Decor
My dear friend, Kayla (@slakenbake_), and I hosted our first “Desserts ‘n Décor” showcase earlier this month. We collaborated on several vignettes featuring her fabulous cakes as the centerpiece and my decorations completed the scene. The two of us had a blast planning and preparing this event for our friends (and friends of friends).
I hope you enjoy the pictures of the results of our hard work and be sure to send me an email if you need any help with your next party!
Mickey Mouse Themed 1st Birthday
Mickey Mouse is my favorite character -- hands down! I had a blast designing and making this adorable paper craft Happy Birthday garland and the Mickey Mouse inspired balloon column.
Festive chunky glitter ears top a Biscoff Cookie Butter cake that is decorated to resemble Mickey's shorts. I made the ears cake topper as well as the Mickey body parts treat bags and peek-a-boo invitation. Be sure to scroll down for more pictures of the invitation.
Kayla's nephew has an upcoming first birthday so we used his name as our "pretend" birthday boy. I made this cute name garland to coordinate with the larger happy birthday garland.
Custom Mickey Mouse invitation in "closed" position. I designed this invite and envelope in Cricut Design Space and then assembled by hand. I have seen similar ones on Pinterest but I was unable to find a template, so I actually designed this cut file from scratch.
Here's a picture of the invitation completely opened up. I actually designed the printed party info (on the white paper) in InDesign and then printed out to be adhered to the card.
Beautiful Bridal Cake
This stunning cake was as delicious as it is beautiful. Kayla topped this lovely tiered cake with some of my handmade felt flowers. The cake could be used at a wedding, bridal shower or any function where flowers are a must!
Valentine's Day Dessert for Two
My handmade "be my valentine" garland is made from paper and includes these gorgeous handmade ribbon tassels. I made each tassel from 18 different types of ribbon and then topped each with a handmade pom pom.
I added some love to the place settings by adding a "love heart" to the napkins with heat transfer vinyl. I also added the "be mine" message to the dessert plate with permanent adhesive vinyl.
Here's Kayla's gorgeous red velvet cake up close. She topped the cake with fresh roses and a paper craft topper that I designed and made.
